Waterborne Polyester Dispersion for Auto & Bicycle Coatings
WL-153 is a self-emulsifying waterborne polyester dispersion, designed as a waterborne alternative to solventborne resins, continuously reducing VOC for greater environmental friendliness. It is mainly used in waterborne baking coating systems and is commonly found in bicycle, auto parts, and wheel hub coatings.

Performance Features
Excellent physical and mechanical properties: Outstanding recoatability and excellent adhesion, along with good flexibility, allowing adaptation to subsequent processing or deformation requirements.
Outstanding appearance and weatherability: High-gloss film effect with good salt spray resistance and good yellowing resistance upon heating, helping maintain coating color stability during baking or use.
Environmental friendliness and special effects: Low-VOC product in line with environmental trends; features aluminum pigment orientation suitable for coating systems requiring metallic flash effects.
Application & Curing
Pretreatment: Metal substrates must undergo proper pretreatment such as degreasing, derusting, and phosphating; otherwise, adhesion will be significantly compromised.
Application methods: Suitable for spray coating, electrostatic spraying, etc. PKA603 mentioned in bicycle applications as having "good electrostatic application performance."
Flash-off (critical step): After spraying, do not enter oven directly. Wet film must flash off at room temperature for 15-30 minutes, or be pre-baked at 80°C for 10-15 minutes; otherwise, blistering and pinholes are likely to occur during baking.
Baking conditions: Refer to conventional curing conditions for waterborne polyester amino baking coatings, approximately 140°C * 30 minutes or 160°C * 20 minutes. Specific conditions should be determined through gradient testing based on amino resin type and film thickness.
Recommended Applications
Bicycles (often used as basecoat resin in combination with amino resin)
