Self-Emulsifying Waterborne Polyester Resin For Baking Metal Coatings

Product Overview

WL-190 is a self-emulsifying waterborne polyester resin designed for baking metal coatings. Before use, it should be neutralized with DMAE (5-6% of resin amount). Suitable for grinding processes with temperature control below 50°C, and can be formulated with Cymel 303LF or Cymel 327 to create amino baking coatings.

Performance Features

Outstanding adhesion to metal substrates with stable performance on cold-rolled steel, aluminum, and galvanized surfaces; no obvious flocculation when formulated with zinc-aluminum powder
Excellent flexibility; coating film withstands impact and bending without cracking; moderate hardness, and can be cured with amino resins/HDI trimers
Better hydrolysis resistance than ordinary water-soluble polyesters; no whitening after 72h water resistance at room temperature; moderate heat-and-humidity performance
Good leveling and high gloss; excellent pigment wetting, and not prone to flooding when making solid-color paints
Good flexibility and high gloss in coil coating applications

Curing Systems

Amino baking coating: Fully methylated amino resin, resin:amino = 100:22-30; 140-150°C/20-30 min
Two-component PU: HDI trimer, -NCO/-OH = 1.0-1.1; can be baked at low temperature 80-100°C or force-dried by air

Recommended Applications

Waterborne industrial baking coatings: hardware fittings, chassis and cabinets, aluminum decorative topcoats
One-coat topcoat/primer light-duty anti-corrosion coatings (indoor environments)

Not suitable for: Outdoor high-weathering resistance applications and long-term water immersion systems
